SAUNTON GRANGE OVERVIEW
Saunton Grange is a beautiful and spacious 7-bedroom character property sleeping up to 17 guests, ideally suited to families, friends, couples, and groups celebrating special occasions. Whether it’s a stag or hen party, milestone birthday, or simply a large group getaway, this property provides the perfect backdrop for memorable gatherings. Situated in the quiet hamlet of Lobb, just moments from Saunton, this unique home occupies what was once the kitchen and servants’ quarters of a grand manor house tragically lost after WWII. It has since been sympathetically restored, blending period charm with modern comfort.
Original beams, exposed stone walls, deep-set windows, and rustic wooden doors retain the historic feel, while grey slate flagstone flooring flows throughout the ground floor. Thanks to its elevated position, guests enjoy gorgeous views over the surrounding countryside. The golden beaches of Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe are just a short drive away, as are the two championship golf courses at Saunton.
DINING ROOM
The impressive double-aspect dining hall is a warm and inviting space with soaring beamed ceilings, slate flooring, and cream-washed stone walls. Two large hardwood dining tables seat up to 16 guests, perfect for long, sociable meals, celebrations or games nights. Lighting options include halogen downlights or a central candle lantern for a more ambient mood.
LIVING AREAS
The main lounge is a large, sociable space with two corner sofas, a 51” wall-mounted TV, and a decorative log-burning fireplace (decommissioned), creating a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Upstairs, the snug offers a quieter hideaway with cream leather sofas, an armchair, Smart TV with Netflix, DVD player (with a huge selection of films), Freeview, Wi-Fi, and a library of children’s books. Please note, due to the thick stone walls, Wi-Fi signal may vary throughout the property.
KITCHEN
Accessed through a characterful low doorway, the farmhouse-style kitchen is well equipped for large group catering. Rustic solid wood cabinets and stone floors are complemented by a slate-effect worktop, white porcelain sink and burnished brass taps. Appliances include a double oven, grill, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and toaster. The decommissioned Rayburn in its original stone fireplace adds a focal point. A smaller breakfast table with four chairs and a flat screen TV with DVD player complete the space.
BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 is a ground floor twin room with bedside table, reading lamp, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and a wall-mounted TV with integrated DVD player.
Bedroom 2 is also on the ground floor, offering a double bed, flagstone floors, and a low arched doorway that frames countryside views. Storage includes a wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus a wall-mounted TV with integrated DVD.
Bedroom 3 has a king-size bed, bedside lighting, a 32” TV, pew bench, and a walk-in baby room complete with travel cot, changing table, and high chair.
Upstairs, Bedroom 4 is a large and versatile children's or group room with two triple bunk beds (double below, single above), sleeping six. A wardrobe houses toys, games, books, and a dolls house, while entertainment includes a TV, DVD player, Wii console and games.
Bedroom 5 features a double bed, wardrobe, 32” TV with DVD player, and its own en-suite shower room with WC and basin.
Bedroom 6 is a cosy single with wardrobe, bedside table and lamp.
Bedroom 7 offers a double bed, electric-effect coal fireplace, wardrobe, dresser, and wall-mounted TV, and leads through to the snug lounge.
BATHROOMS
There are two family bathrooms and one en-suite, all located upstairs. One family bathroom includes a key-shaped bath with overhead electric shower, WC, and basin. The second bathroom at the end of the galleried landing enjoys courtyard views and features a full suite: bath, separate shower, WC and pedestal basin with large mirror. An additional WC and wash basin can be found in the outdoor utility room, which also houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. Bath towels are included.
OUTDOORS
The exterior spaces are just as impressive as the interiors. The enclosed Mediterranean-style courtyard is a suntrap, furnished for alfresco dining and BBQs. A further lawned area offers plenty of space for sunbathing or outdoor games. Guests can unwind in the raised hot tub in the Orchard Garden, surrounded by deck chairs and tables, with views over the countryside – perfect for celebrations under the stars.
A semi-walled lawned garden with a children’s play area offers additional space to relax or play. There is ample gravel parking for multiple vehicles. Dogs are warmly welcomed.
