A lovely place. Peaceful and quiet, never saw anyone else. The local pub Coach and Horses (check opening times , only a 1.4m walk, bring a torch if you walk back late) is friendly. Food and beer are great. Torrington is about a 15 minute drive. If you use your phone for directions put in 'cob barn' it takes you a better route than the postcode.

A small slice of heaven in the Devonshire countryside. Cob barn was the perfect place for us with our two young children and dog. The owner was even so kind as to put up a stair gate for us. We all slept so well in the peace and quiet and comfy big beds. ( This includes the children, which is a real miracle!)

Beautiful spot - down a quarter mile farm track. Cottage is well maintained and comfortable. Owners were very helpful when we needed to contact them. The communal grounds are a treat - beautiful area to walk in or have an evening BBQ. “Location and setting were really appealing - very nice private place and the 'communal grounds' were a real treat - beautiful space and very thoughtfully managed. Owner Phil was extremely helpful and approachable. Property was well equipped for cooking and bedrooms were comfortable.

Beautiful cottage, we had a wonderful stay with our two dogs. The owner’s really friendly. Great communication in the run up to our stay. Be sure to stock up on milk & food at the shop before arrival. Thanks for a fab time, just what we needed to get away for a long weekend.

Lovely and peaceful. Comfortable and versatile cottage accommodation for families and couples alike and great for dogs. Challenging approach to the cottage - hard on tyres - but I expect everyone says that! We had a very restful week, would recommend and return.

Really loved our stay at this lovely converted barn. It's a wonderfully peaceful location with only a couple of other houses next door, the only sounds are sheep and birdsong. It's got lovely communal grounds and a little walk round a field with a large pond in it and lots of sitting areas... Great for a picnic. The barn itself is well converted and has everything you need including its own garden and BBQ. The beds are big and comfortable and it made for a relaxing stay. The owner was very helpful and accomodating too. We'd definitely go here again! “We had a wonderful time here and won't forget the lovely Cob Barn in a hurry. Hope to return one day!”

Great location in peaceful surroundings. This is a perfect place to unwind and relax. A drive to some spectacular places with great walks and beaches. Local pub is a short drive or longer walk is really friendly and had fab food. The property is spacious and worked for teenage boys with the mezzanine above with PlayStation. The heated flooring downstairs is lovely to come home to. Kitchen a good size. Little enclosed garden for the dog and massive bonus that this whole area seems so dog friendly. We took ours literally everywhere. Would book again. We came at the tail end of Storm Dennis so the weather was wet and windy but it didn't really hamper our adventures. We managed long walks in Westward Ho!, The Tarka trail from Bideford to the Instow Arms at Instow which is siutated on a lovely sandy dog friendly beach and spent a day at Clovelly which is a must see, just be warned its steep and cobbly and our whippet did not enjoy the cobbles.”

“We found cob barn to be a very relaxing and enjoyable home for our week away. It felt secluded but also not too far from the local amenities. It’s a car journey though, which we have no problem with. The huge communal spaces meant we could take the dog on some lovely walks and use the facilities such as the campfire For the rainy days, the games console and books/games provided meant my 6 and 8 year old had plenty to do! The kitchen was well stocked which is much better than other places we have stayed. The barn cottage itself had been sympathetically renovated and the beds were very comfy. It was spotlessly clean and it felt like home. If you want a secluded get away, look no further. No light pollution at night and the only noise being the cows , we had a brilliant time.”

Wonderful barn, beautiful setting Left on Apr 23, 2019 for a stay in Apr 2019 We booked this barn almost last minute having been let down by a previous booking. We we not disappointed and what a find! We travelled with our two dogs who enjoyed their stay as much as we did. Very secluded, down a long farm track this was everything we could ask for as we wanted to get away from it all and allow our pets the freedom to roam. The accommodation was a home from home with everything you would require including a small garden around the back for alfresco dining and secure to allow the dogs out for a little sniff about. A longer walk could be had to the left of the area which had a field and lake to allow the dogs to run free. We had Freeview and internet access with children catered for with dvd (we had none with us), books for those wishing a more sedate get away and board games. Cob Barn caters for all ages and all requirements of a getaway. We can't recommend highly enough!!

Cob barn Left on Jul 9, 2018 for a stay in Jul 2018 Perfect little place. Very out of the hustle and bustle of life. The drive way down is long and bumpy but accessible. We had our two dogs with us, although the garden is quite small it was adequate as there is a large field you can take them to just across communal grass area. Shops are nearby and the beach is 20 mins away, westward ho allows dogs but You have to go right to the right of the beach and there is no amenities just beach. It was very nice indeed staying here, very sweet pub up the road, coach and horses, good food. All in all a fab holiday, in the middle of no where! Perfect! Beware of the horse flies tho!

Beautiful ! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This cottage is well worth the half mile or so bumpy track that leads to its door. Peaceful, isolated, well equipped with all we could want. Our son loved the retro ps2 as well as playing boules (we took those with us) in the garden. I sat in the sun and relaxed a lot! Highly recommend this- our dog also loved it!

“Away from it all” Reviewed on Trip Advisor July 5th, 2015 Cob Barn is a delightful place to stay with a nice private garden along with outlying area to explore. the beds are massive and very comfortable. Very well equipt with wifi included. Books games and psp2 to keep kids happy. dogs are welcome and the night skies are beautiful. the only down side was a very bumpy private road down to property about 500 yds but you cant have everything. the place is managed for the owner by a local firm who are helpful if you need them. very clean i highly recommend this property if you are wanting to visit this corner of north devon.

“away from it all” 5/5 Reviewed on Trip Advisor May 12th, 2015 Lovely cottage set in the North Devon countryside. Patio doors leading out on to the well kept fenced garden together with a slate floor to the dining room, make it an ideal spot for your four legged friend, as well as yourselves. It is clean comfortable, well equipped and peaceful. The only difficulty is the track which leads down to it, which requires a suitable vehicle.(i.e. A car with a good ground clearance) It would be advisable to shop in the supermarket in Bideford before arriving as Buckland Brewer facilities are quite limited. overall a wonderful relaxing place to stay.

“our devon adventure” 5/5 Reviewed on Trip Advisor August 21, 2014 The Cob Barn is a great touring base for North Devon. We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday spent at this peaceful and lovely cottage. The weather was stunning when we visited but the extra facilities such as Playstation, DVD player, games, etc. would have ensured we enjoyed the holiday whatever the weather. Kids enjoyed exploring the greenery in the area as well as meeting the rabbits, sheep and cows. Also had a bbq and even Karaoke nights and since the barn is isolated, nobody complained about our singing! The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could want, so if you don't want to eat out every night (as we didn't) Morrisons is just a good driving distance away for groceries. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the Woolacombe Beach, Clovelly Village and Milky Way. Thank you for a fantastic stay, will definitely recommend to our friends!

Lovely, out of the way, peaceful corner of North Devon. Loads of wild life around the farm. Local butcher sells excellent meat and the Coach & Horses provide a very good Sunday lunch with large portions. Great fun to be had trying to get the sheep out of the garden and back into their field
