We had a lovely stay at Norma's Cottage during the August bank holiday. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very comfortable, has a cute little garden and a great bath! It is equipped with everything one could need for a 5 day stay, including lots of kitchen equipment. It was very quiet so we slept really well! The final touch was arriving to lovely breakfast for the morning after, scones and cream and jam and milk in the fridge, also french press coffee. That made our day! We also really enjoyed reading about the history of the house and the property manager was very helpful at answering all our questions straight away. Thank you so much for your glowing 5-star review. We’re delighted you had such a lovely stay at Norma’s Cottage and that you found it so comfortable and well-equipped. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed the little touches on arrival, as well as the peace and quiet for a good night’s sleep. We’re also pleased the property manager could be on hand to help make your stay smooth and enjoyable. We’d love to welcome you back again soon. Best regards, Paul Choice Cottages

Lucy Flower-BrownAugust 2025 We had a lovely stay at Norma’s Cottage, including our preschooler! Appledore is a delightful village and the cottage was beautifully turned out, perfectly clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Would recommend and definitely stay again. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. The cottage is lovely, and the history of it fascinating to read about - it was a wonderful addition having that information in the welcome booklet, it really made it feel like a home 😊 Choice: Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review. We’re delighted to hear the cottage was just what you needed and that you had such a lovely stay. It means a lot to know you felt at home and enjoyed your time here. We’d be very happy to welcome you back.

Title: "A Real Gem in Appledore" Testimonial: "We settled in immediately. A lovely cottage finished to a very high standard — tastefully decorated, comfy, cosy, and spotless throughout. The workmanship, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, is second to none. We feel very lucky to have found this last minute." – Andy, August 2025

22 Jun 2025 Basic categories Staff 10 Cleanliness 10 Location 10 Facilities 10 Comfort 10 Value for money 10 The cottage has been refurbished throughout. Everything was new, it was lovely. Very compact but all you need was supplied. There is a small garden out the front of the cottage you can sit out in and have breakfast in the sunshine which was lovely. The stairs are very steep so wouldn't suit someone with mobility issues plus the cottage is only accessible down a cobbled pathway so you can't park immediately outside. There is a car park extremely close by which you can buy a permit for the week for £30 or you can buy a tourist parking permit £50 online from Torridge District council which also covers other car parks in Westward Ho and a few other places. The cottage is very close to all of Appledores amenities. I would recommend it as a good place to stay.

Hi, please find below our review for the cottage w/b 21st June. My family and I had a lovely June week in Appledore. Norma's Cottage has been recently restored and there is a good balance between the charm of traditional features like the wood burner, driftwood lintel and sash windows and the convenience of the modern appliances. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden seating area, which is sheltered enough to sit out in most weather and has an estuary view with the little boats - you also get a partial view of this from the upstairs bedroom windows. I can imagine the cottage would work well in the winter too with the cosy stove. Unusually for a cottage of this size, the kitchen is large and well equipped enough to cook properly if you like to eat in. There is a deli in Appledore which is very nice but a little pricey. There is an impressively sized and stocked Morrison's in Bideford a ten-minute drive away. Appledore itself is very pretty with the coloured fishermen’s cottages and a laid-back atmosphere and not too touristy. All the pubs are very welcoming (we particularly liked the Beaver but I gather they're all good), and there are a few places to get Devon cream teas and excellent evening meals. The nearby Gray Sands, Sandy Mere and Westward Ho! are one long beach. The beach is huge at low tide and absolutely stunning. You can easily walk into the little harbour/quay which is really cute and just a few minutes walk away. If you walk up the main road left from Pitt Court and cross the road and head down any of the side streets you will get to the most fabulous views of the beach. We found parking at the cottage a bit pressured at the weekend but fine in the week. There is a long and short stay car park 2 mins walk away in Odun Street if all else fails. The cobbled path up to the cottage might be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. We had a lovely week and will definitely return. Best, Matt
