Casino Royale comes to Ilfracombe. Will the chips be down for you or will you be £500 up?

by Admin30. November 2016 09:51

Get yourself a group of friends (work colleagues will do if you can’t find any friends!)  and head to the Landmark Theatre for a Fun Casino Night. You can play Blackjack, Roulette and Casino Stud Poker with 20,000 fun money units (Euros?). The person with the most fun money at the end of the evening wins a £500 holiday voucher. With a James Bond style cocktail bar, you’ll need to get your glad rags out for 8th December.

by Admin29. November 2016 09:56

You need to book early if you want to have Breakfast with Santa on 18th or 19th December. He’s visiting the Big Sheep, but places are limited. There’s lots of other things to enjoy in the Wooley’s Winter Wonderland from 3rd December, including meeting Santa for an early Christmas gift. There’s ice skating, tobogganing and a snowboard simulator as well as the magical light show. After all that you may still have the energy left to visit Ewetopia!

The band will play marching down the Clovelly cobbles, but the puff to march back up?

by Admin28. November 2016 09:51

Clovelly Christmas is magical.  A local brass band promenade down the cobbles, leading the procession down to the harbour and then accompany Christmas carols sung by a local choir.  I’ve walked down there and I’ve played in a band. There’s no way I could do both at once! At the harbour there'll be a hog roast, hot dogs, Christmas grog and Father Christmas will make a surprise visit. At about 5 p.m. the switch is thrown and the entire village and harbour are lit up, followed by fireworks.  Fantastic!

No diets here ? big is beautiful and valuable at the Fat Stock Fair in South Molton

by Admin27. November 2016 09:51

South Molton may be a small market town, but it has a lot going on! On Saturday 4th December you can get a real taste of the country with a visit to the Fatstock Show. See the very best livestock in the area showing off in a wide variety of classes, then see the tractors on show at the Vintage Rally Club and visit the farmer’s market to stock up on local produce for Christmas. There will also be lots of local business selling their goods and crafts in the Pannier Market. Finally, head for St Mary Magdalene’s to see the Christmas Tree Festival with trees created by local groups and businesses.

Imagine stepping into the Great British Bake Off tent, except it’s on The Strand

by Admin26. November 2016 09:51

The Snow Queen, a live theatre production, performed by Quantum Theatre is taking place at lunchtime and again in the afternoon of Saturday 19th November at RHS Rosemoor. Michael Whitmore's delightful adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's magical tale conjures up a captivating mix of fantasy, fable and love triumphing over evil in this ever popular classic. Will Gerda be able to unfreeze her friend Kay’s heart after she was taken by the Snow Queen – you’ll have to be there to find out!

Imagine stepping into the Great British Bake Off tent, except it?s on The Strand

by Admin26. November 2016 09:51

North Devon Journal’s Food, Drink and Tourism Awards have given their Best Café accolade to Tea on The Taw, on the strand in Barnstaple. It has everything you would expect from the Great British Bake Off - waiters and waitresses in vintage aprons, mismatched floral plates and china teacups, bunting and a gingham clad table groaning under the weight of cakes, just waiting for you to make your choice. With sandwiches, quiches, baked potatoes and other savouries, as well as all that cake, you can have a lovely (if rather high calorie!) meal.

A traditional village centre & castle, all lit by candlelight ? Christmas is coming

by Admin25. November 2016 09:51

Turn off the lights, keep out the vehicles, and then you can enjoy a walk around the beautiful centre of Dunster village, all lit by candlelight and lanterns. Dunster is pretty at any time, but by candlelight it is magical. The gorgeous castle towers over the ancient buildings and unusual shops. With street artists and local street food you will have an evening to remember in Dunster by Candlelight over the weekend of Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd December.
