Watch one of the famous sunsets over Lundy Island or simply enjoy the weekend evening entertainment. The soft play area looks tempting to adults – even if it is just the knowledge that it will keep the children busy for hours and tire them out for your to enjoy a quiet evening! For those who prefer eating and drinking without the excited playing of children, the soft play area is in a separate building – good idea! The indoor soft play area play is free and has 3 storeys of play zone to enjoy and explore. There is also an outdoor children’s play area the  'Beeracuda', which opened in July 2012.

The High Ropes course is split into two. Both courses can fulfill the aspirations of the craziest monkey or the tamest ape! The course is suitable for all ages and abilities. (Minimum age 8 years and size restrictions apply) The Ultimate High can also offer a new 12.5 meter high state of the art climbing wall. Visit Exmoor Zoo in Bratton Flemming, Exmoor, Devon

by Admin26. March 2013 09:00

Places to Visit in Devon:

Exmoor Zoo, Bratton Flemming

Open daily

Exmoor Zoo is a family friendly zoo, with high standards of animal enclosures. They won a gold award in the 2012 Visit Devon Tourism Awards and are involved in several international breeding programmes. Watch the way many animals (lemurs, marmosets etc) can move from one area of their enclosure to another through wire runs, often above the visitor’s paths. The viewing opportunities for smaller children are also good, with low level windows and plenty of space along railings. There are regular times for animal feeding (the otters at 11.00 run around the edges of their large enclosure, checking out if you are the keeper.) The keepers are friendly and willing to answer all your questions. Meet a snake or spider at the animal encounter sessions or of you really want to have an experience never to forget book a ‘walk on the wild side’ or private animal encounter. I will never forget the gentleness of Lemurs taking bananas and grapes from my fingers with their fingers and mouths and a soft, furry lemur on my shoulder is something I will always remember. (Booking essential). The Beasts of Exmoor (a pair of black leopards) are also something special. The zoo has many varieties of big cats and all seem to enjoy showing themselves off to an admiring audience. With Lynx, a Cheetah, Puma, Asian Sand Cats and others this is definitely a visit for big cat lovers. There is a tea room for cakes and drinks. Simple hot food is also available or take a picnic and enjoy the outdoor areas and children’s playground.
